Smiths Hire FC enter Business Fives Tournament

Smiths Hire FC dusted off their football boots to raise money for charity in the Business Fives June football tournament.

On the longest day of the year (and arguably one of the sunniest too!) our brave players – Smiths Hire FC – took part in the tournament organised by the Business Fives team. 12 local companies accepted the challenge and took to the Astro to at WePlay Football in Preston in a bid to be crowned the new Business Fives Preston Champions, as well as raise money for various local and national charities.

The event saw an impressive total of 179 goals scored in the 33 matches played, unfortunately for Smiths Hire FC their 6 goals weren’t enough to get them through to the finals, but they played valiantly all the same and £1702 was raised for charity.

Our team captain and Area Sales Manager, Craig Jeffels said – “A great afternoon was had by all, our boys put their heart and soul into each match, but the standard of play was very high so unfortunately it wasn’t our day. But, knowing that we were able to contribute to raising such a large amount for local charities means we were all winners!”

The tournament was rounded off at the end of the day with a presentation from ambassador, Simon Grayson (Professional football manager and former player), who shared stories of his career and presented the trophies to the tournament winners who go through to the Manchester national final later in the year.

Thanks to Business Fives for arranging another successful event and game on for the 2024 tournament!
