Smiths Hire FC Claims a Place in the Semis

We’ve gone a bit football crazy here at Smiths Hire of late, sponsoring two local youth teams and entering a team of our own in a recent Warden Construction Charity Football Tournament.

The tournament – held in aid of Galloways Society for the Blind and sponsored by Smiths Hire, was a huge success. Twelve local businesses entering 7-man squads meant the turnout was excellent and the competition fierce.

The mighty Smiths FC started the tournament well with three successive wins before being held to a 4-4 draw in the fourth in what was an excellent game for the neutral spectator against Thompson Electrical. A win in the final group game ensured a comfortable progression to the quarter finals.

After beating Danbro on penalties, Smiths FC were finally beaten in the Semi-Final to eventual tournament winners CPL Building Services.

A great day and a lot of money raised for a fantastic cause, a huge thanks and well done to everyone involved.
