Going from (Hire) Strength to Strength in Trafford Park

The new Trafford Park location is ideally situated on the Western side of the city centre (our Openshaw site is on the East) and will provide our current and future customers with easy access for collecting their hire equipment, as well as making equipment deliveries by the depot team more accessible and efficient.

Our Operations David Sudell had this to say “Securing a presence in Trafford Park has been on the agenda for many years, allowing us to supplement full catchment of activity in a busy trade location. Strategically the site lends itself well with a significant footprint to accommodate our fleet of plant and large powered access machines and will enable us to centralise efficiencies.”

The new Hire shop will also have a Smiths Training Centre too, the vast depot is perfectly equipped to host multiple external construction-related courses at one time, meaning that we can provide more IPAF, PASMA, First Aid training and many more other courses to Trafford Park and surrounding areas.

The new location will also offer our new and existing employees with the first-of-its-kind – Staff Training Hub! As a company who have been trading for well over 50 years, we understand and prioritise the importance of training our employees – from day one all the way through to their present day. Starting off their Smiths Hire journey with the correct ‘tools’ (excuse the pun!) and knowledge for them to better serve our customers as well as their colleagues. Here at Smiths Hire, we realise that Tool Hire is a niche business and therefore we don’t always expect our employees to have worked in the industry before (although this is a bonus), we look for people that share our company ethos and values and through consistent training the rest of the knowledge comes. We invest in our staff, and we love nothing more that the internal progression of existing team members.

The Trafford Park depot team will be headed up one of our already successful managers – James Vosper, who has done an excellent job with our Bolton depot and will be bringing his vast knowledge of both the Hire industry and our Smiths Hire values to this new, exciting location.

The new depot will be providing the local area with a number of new employment opportunities and our in-house recruitment team are already on the lookout for talented individuals across all job roles to join our dynamic, forward-thinking Family team.
