Purpose of the role:

The Asset Manager is responsible and accountable for leading and developing a positive ‘Can Do’ culture to drive both positive attitudes and measurable return in a fast paced and demanding hire business.

Role Overview:

Your day to day role will be the planning the maintenance/servicing of our fleet of vehicles and managing our workshop teams to ensure we keep our equipment fit for purpose and out on hire.

You will be responsible for the cost effective control of a fleet of vehicles and the maintenance/servicing of hire equipment through our busy depot workshops, ensuring the whole fleet is maintained to the very highest standard.

Working closely with the Operations Director to ensure the highest levels of customer support is provided to both our depot teams and indirectly our customers.

We are looking for a professional person who can work on their own initiative, but also as part of a larger team, communicating effectively at all levels both internally and externally.

Problem solving capability is a must, both on your own and as part of the team, dealing with challenging situations with professionalism to achieve the best outcome for our business.

Customer Service and Health and Safety are the bedrock of our culture and need to be at the core of every aspect of the role.

You will be able to communicate clearly with the depot teams and with our customers if necessary, ensuring that information is with the right people at the right time. You need to be able to cultivate a strong working relationships with your team and with suppliers to improve the customer experience and help create a foundation to drive the business forward.

You will understand that the Asset management role is not an 8:00 – 17:00 role and as a result will be flexible in the hours you can work to help meet our customers’ requirements.

Key skills and responsibilities:

  • Experience of hire fleet utilisation analysis and liaising with depots to maximise utilisation and stock control.
  • Asset support to our 12 depot managers and their team.
  • KPI’s for the board of Directors – Utilisation/ROI and fleet quantity reports.
  • Purchasing and selling experience and a thorough approach to associated procedures and reporting.
  • Ensure workshop damage/repair/maintance jobs are kept within agreed commercial time scales.
  • Depot auditing (Access, Plant and Small Tool checks) by way of regular depot visits.
  • Proven methodical approach to planning and direction.
  • Managing our syrinx database and updating marketing (website) with new or obsolete equipment.
  • General technical (mechanical and electrical) understanding is an advantage.
  • Check and log supplier quotations, negotiate the best deals whilst maintaining quality.
  • Team management/leadership skills.
  • Control and monitor LOLER/PAT testing & Electrical legislation is correctly in place for all company assets.
  • Ensure company compliance with DVLA legislation.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, environmental and management systems.
  • Authorise necessary repairs needed to maintain fleet vehicles and equipment in a safe and roadworthy condition.
  • Confirm service and repairs are in compliance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Full UK Driving License.
